On the Wayfarer's Walk between Ladle Hill and Watership Down this iconic stand of trees not only supplied some of the inspiration to novelist Richard Adam's, but undoubtedly would also have provided shelter for eighteenth century pamphleteer journalist and politician William Cobbett,
